Five years ago, Dow Corning Corp. vacated a building in Tittabawassee Township, now it will expand the laboratory build a climate-controlled warehouse, more offices and add a few jobs.

Christopher C. Shirk, manager of Site and Science & Technology at the Solar Solutions Application Center, 10330 Hercules, was at the Board of Trustee meeting Tuesday to request an Industrial Facility Exemption Certificate to lessen the tax burden.

"Business is really good, we're continuing to grow and products are taking hold in the market place," Shirk said. "The expansion is another chapter in the story of what we have going in solar activity."

The $7.5 million investment started three years ago when there were just six people on site and has grown to 26 people. The $1.2 million expansion is expected to add about four more jobs, with a total capacity of 40, Shirk said.

The resolution for the exemption was unanimously approved by board members.
